Carson and Halli

So after posting about Halli a week or so ago, I realized I hadn't ever put their photos up that my sister took a couple months back. I put 3 of Halli's up in her post, but wanted to put Carson's up too. So here are 3 of our favorites. As soon as I find frames I have a cute idea for all these wonderful photos my sister Aubry took! Thanks again for your fabulous skills sista!

These ones of Halli I took, but just wanted to include some photos of her new favorite thing. She absolutely LOVES this bike! It is the best birthday present I have ever purchased for anyone ever. Definitely worth the money we forked out for it! If it wasn't so darn hot here all day, everyday I'd let her be out riding it more. In the fall we'll be out riding non-stop.
Just a side question for everyone...does anyone have a recommendation for an excellent jogging stroller-probably needs to be a double stroller? I am looking to buy one very soon, and it needs to be able to hold our new infant and Halli. I'm excited to get back to running in the very near future!

Today's post is brought to you by the number 3

It is almost a month late, but I'm finally posting about Halli's birthday...I'm the lamest mom ever. Our little princess turned 3 on the 10th of June. It has been three years since she was born. I don't know where those 3 years went, but they just flew right by. Here is a tribute to our little girl!

Three years of birthdays

3 Silly faces of Halli

Favorite 3 things Halli says regularly
1. I love you than five (this is the highest number she can love)
2. Can I have some gum and chapstick (these two things are always asked for together...don't know why)
3. Can we go for a walk (she just wants to go ride her bike)

Halli's top 3 things to do each day
1. Ride her bike
2. draw and/or color
3. Go swimming

Top 3 favorite movies
1. Tangled
2. Finding Nemo
3. Cars

3 phrases I wish she didn't say
1. No
2. Well...
3. But, but

Our 3 favorite poses from a recent photo shoot

Halli is Little Miss Independent and loves to do everything herself-except clean her room. She is constantly telling me she can do it herself Apparently she is just like her mother :) We sure love her, and can't wait to see what the coming year brings.
I was looking back at baby photos of her tonight, and realized I'll have another little infant in no time. I have been really nervous and feeling not ready for a newborn, but after looking at photos I feel like I am ready for the upcoming bundle of joy that will soon arrive.

Croup

So apparently my kids aren't just sick...poor little Halli has croup. I was up all night with her last night, and she has been "barking" all day today. I feel so bad for my little girl. Being sick is bad enough, and then she has a horrible horrible cough that isn't easing up at all yet. I'm taking her into the doctor this afternoon-even though croup is a virus and they can't really do much for her. I talked to the nurse on the phone, and she heard Halli coughing and said I better bring her in. (She probably just wants my money...but oh well, I'm a sucker.) She said the doctor may prescribe her something to help with the coughing-I sure hope so because we're really tired today.

We're Alive

Everytime I think about making a post I just think "what am I going to write about?" There hasn't been too much happening with us. I am just excited the weather is warming up a bit and we don't have to be cooped up in the house all day. I just don't do the cold so we haven't left the house much this winter. We did some yard work this past weekend, and it felt really great to get out and work in the yard again. There is a lot of work to do out there so we'll be spending a lot of time in the yard this spring/summer. I'm excited for the upcoming weeks and months.
Today is a sick day here at home. Carson and Halli both have colds...again. We spent the morning on the couch watching movies. Carson and Halli both got to choose one movie and we just spent too much time staring at the TV, but it was nice not to do anything. I didn't worry about cleaning, laundry, dishes, or anything else on my list of things I need to do. I just had a good time hanging out with the kids, and snuggling with them. I sure love those two, and the wonderful time I get to spend with them everyday. Here they are in their spot this morning.

"Kittens"

When I put Halli to bed at night she frequently asks that I sing "kittens". Here she is singing the song herself-with a little help. Do you know what song it is?

Other October festivities

We took a trip to the pumpkin patch in October and the kids both picked out their own pumpkins. Here are their choices (along with the other pumpkins we purchased).
Here they are in front of the pumpkin patch sign this year

Here they were last year (2009) in front of the same sign. Looks like they've grown!

I made these fun snacks for a party my friend had (AC#33)

Here is another one of the projects I did at the beginning of the month #34

And this is the finished shelf i posted about a while back-I just need to get it on the wall #35

DONE

Ok Halli was so much easier to potty train than Carson. Carson took FOREVER...we're still working with him during sleeping hours. Halli is done, doing it herself. It took two and a half days and she hasn't had an accident since Thursday afternoon. I know that doesn't seem long, but I know she's got it. She wakes up in the morning and uses the toilet before she even comes and wakes us up. She goes and takes care of things by herself. She is so stinkin independent, but in this case it is a wonderful thing cause she wants to do it all! We went out to dinner to celebrate, and got ice cream too. Halli girl, you rock my world!

The beginning of the end

Of diapers that is! Today is the first day of potty training with Halli. I decided I'm ready for her to be out of diapers. She is excited and interested in it so we went and picked out some panties and have her running around in them today. She's already wet in 4 of the 7 pairs we bought....hopefully she'll figure this out soon. I'm taking her to the toilet every 20 minutes...I guess maybe I need to make it every 10. Any suggestions or help here would be appreciated-I don't like potty training!!!

This is the story of a girl (and boy)

There once was a young maiden who was ruler of her castle. Any wish she made was quickly granted. She had the entire household in the palm of her hand.
One lovely summer day she decided to get all dolled up and enjoy a nice afternoon outside. The king and queen thought she look especially nice so decided to take some photos.Princess Halli wasn't happy about it, but her older brother prince Carson got some pictures taken too. Then they had to take some together. She decided it would be better for the pictures if they held hands...at least for one photo. The queen requested that a photo be taken of she and princess Halli. The princess first tried to stand in front of the queen, and after many attempts the castle photographer was able to get a decent shot with Halli beside the queen...not directly in front.Today was going to be a special day for the princess. She had a big party to attend that evening, so she wanted everything to be perfect for it. She demanded that her carriage be cleaned and shined for the big party. Of course she put Prince Carson to working scrubbing and scouring. Once she saw how much fun Carson was having she decided to join in (an apparently do so topless...sorry)After all the hard work she took a break and stopped to smell the roses...or daylilies.Excitement and adventure were on her mind so she decided to try out tree climbing for the first time. She wouldn't let the queen or king tell her climbing was too hard. She went inside and found a box to use as a stool so she could step up into the tree. She found climbing to be exhilarating. Carson was there to make sure she was comfortable. At last it was time to go to the party. Her first item of business was to go on the blow-up toy/slide/maze thingy. She was appalled at the length of the line, and couldn't figure out why there was a delay in excitement. After a horrendous wait (in little princess time) her time arrived to do a run through. It was the most fun she'd had all day!The party continued on. She enjoyed games, treats, prizes, balloons, music, dancing, and face painting. As the sun set in the sky she thought to herself, this has been the most magnificent day I've had all week. She rode off her in carriage, and returned home to rest her pretty little head and get her beauty sleep.

The number 2

Today's post is brought to you by the number two. Yesterday was Miss Halli's number two birthday. I heard her two little feet running into my room yesterday morning to wake up up at 6:15. The first thing I saw when I opened my eyes were her two big beautiful eyes staring into mine. I laid her into bed next to me and thought of the past two years with her in our lives. She is one crazy lady, but we sure love having her in our family.

In honor of her big day here are "Halli's top 2's"

2 things we did for Halli's Birthday
1. Crowned Halli princess for the day
2. Ate a delicious fondant cake made by Lindsey (my sister) and I(Tiffani)

2 things Halli said today
1. What the....heck
2. Oh cute (said after she saw a picture of herself)

2 times Halli made ma laugh today

1. When she bit into her birthday cake after we sang to her (I guess that was actually yesterday-oh well)
2. when she said what the....heck

2 things I remember when she was born
1. Her pink pink skin (Carson was really yellow)
2. having her sleep on my chest-I love snuggly babies and she TOTALLY was...what happened?

2 things we love about Halli
1. I LOVE that she loves shoes...a girl just like her mom
2. She loves us

PS...My photos were loading, and then they stopped. So as of now I only have 2 photos-fitting I guess.

Tanganyika

We went to the coolest zoo yesterday. It is a small private zoo where you can interact with some of the animals. We got to feed and pet lemurs, pet kangaroos, turtles, camels, and giraffes. It is a really cool place-somewhere we will definitely be going again! And if anyone comes to visit us here in Kansas we'll take you there if you want!!! Here are some fun photos.

Halli's Habit

Since Halli could stand up in her crib she has been throwing things out of it. Every time she wakes up from bedtime or nap time she has to throw everything out of her crib before she will get out. Prior to her being able to hop over the side of the crib and get out on her own, she still would throw everything out before calling for us to come get her. I find it humorous because she insists on sleeping with a crib full of stuff. This morning when she woke up she decided to bring everything she had thrown out into our room, and onto our bed. Here is the list of items she brought
  • Her "ba lee ba la" (blanket)
  • a big stuffed dog that is about the size she is
  • her pillow
  • a second blanket
  • a rhino beany baby
  • a monkey beany baby
  • her baby doll
  • a third blanket
  • a stuffed bear
  • her stuffed bird
  • a fourth blanket
  • the book she chose to sleep with last night. (I mentioned in a previous post a couple months back that she loves to sleep with books!)
  • a fifth blanket
Needless to say, I think this girl sleeps with WAY to much stuff...our bed was FULL this morning with us all this and 2 kids! Here is a photo of her napping with all of it right now.

Vacationing-well some of us

Carson, Halli, and I are in Utah getting ready for my sister Lindsey's wedding. We came out a week before Ryan so I could be here for her shower, and help my mom with everything. We miss Ryan SOOO much, and he is miserable without us, but we have been enjoying our time here (sorry babe). Carson and Halli of course love all the attention, and I love relaxing a bit. It is nice to not have to worry about cleaning my house all day everyday. We have all been enjoying the warm weather here and have spent a lot of time outside. We went on a family walk last night, and I remembered how much I enjoy walks. I haven't gone on many for months cause it has been so cold and windy in Kansas. I think I'll start walking each morning again. I know the kids and I really enjoyed that last summer. We've also been enjoying haning out on the deck-here are a couple photos.I've been reading a lot since I've been here so I've love that. I'm still going strong with all my New Year's resolutions so I'm feeling pretty good about myself for sticking with everything. One of those goals was to read 1 book each month. This month I've read 3 so far-the first 3 books of the Percy Jackson series. I have enjoyed them. I know they are kinda kiddy books, but it's been fun to read some easy going and interesting books.
My mom and I are going to be making my sister's wedding cake for her (the big day is Friday!). We decided to practice today, and this is what we created. I'm counting it for the AC project this week. I've never done a fondant cake before, and it was fun to work with it. It is definitely something I enjoyed. I'm totally making a fondant cake for the next birthday...I guess that means Halli's. Ohhhh I have to start thinking of some fun designs to do for it! I hope it tastes good. I guess we'll find out tonight after FHE.
