City of Bones

I don't really remember what books I read last month and what ones I read at the beginning of this month, so I'll just report on what I've read recently...starting with City of Bones.
My totally awesome brother-in-law, Daniel, recommended this book to me and I really liked it. I will relay what he said to me...read it! I promise you won't be disappointed. I'm waiting for someone to return the second book (City of Ashes) in the series so I can borrow it from the library.

I also read the third book in the Fablehaven series-it was just as good as the first and second books! I'm excited to read the forth one...I just got it from amazon on Tuesday.

I'm in the middle of all these series and it is sometimes hard to keep them all straight, but I am really loving all this reading I am doing. I'll be finishing another book tonight-book 4 of the Percy Jackson series.

Please, keep bringing on good book suggestions all you friends out there!

HUNGRY

Hungry for more that is. I just finished reading The Hunger Games this morning, and I loved it! I can't wait to run down to the library to see if they have the second book, Catching Fire, available. If they don't I might just have to go buy it...like I did with Hunger Games. I know a lot of people have already read this book, but if you haven't and are looking for a good book that is fun and easy to read and get into I highly suggest this one.
I also remembered that I didn't post about the books I read last month. I decided to buy Percy Jackson and the Olympians from a scholastic book order for a few bucks, and I enjoyed reading it.I enjoyed it so much that I borrowed the next two books in the series from a friend and read through those while I was on vacation. I'm on the waiting list at the library for the 4th book in that series. I also want to see the movie now...wonder if I can Netflix it yet. I'll have to go check!
When I finished reading those books and couldn't get the fourth one right away I decided to read something my parent's had so I picked up Fablehaven.
My sister and brother in law love these books so I thought I would give it a try. I enjoyed this book as well so I have the next two books in that series waiting on my dresser. I quickly got into a whole mess of books over the past month! I enjoy the reading, and letting my mind jump into the books. Ryan didn't like it so much yesterday when I couldn't put The Hunger Games down though...he claims I'm cheating on him with my books. I guess I just have to read in moderation. I get to into it and don't want to do anything else. Good thing yesterday was a rainy day so I had an excuse to stay inside! Haha. Anyway...I'd recommend any of these books/series if you are looking to get into something good.

Vacationing-well some of us

Carson, Halli, and I are in Utah getting ready for my sister Lindsey's wedding. We came out a week before Ryan so I could be here for her shower, and help my mom with everything. We miss Ryan SOOO much, and he is miserable without us, but we have been enjoying our time here (sorry babe). Carson and Halli of course love all the attention, and I love relaxing a bit. It is nice to not have to worry about cleaning my house all day everyday. We have all been enjoying the warm weather here and have spent a lot of time outside. We went on a family walk last night, and I remembered how much I enjoy walks. I haven't gone on many for months cause it has been so cold and windy in Kansas. I think I'll start walking each morning again. I know the kids and I really enjoyed that last summer. We've also been enjoying haning out on the deck-here are a couple photos.I've been reading a lot since I've been here so I've love that. I'm still going strong with all my New Year's resolutions so I'm feeling pretty good about myself for sticking with everything. One of those goals was to read 1 book each month. This month I've read 3 so far-the first 3 books of the Percy Jackson series. I have enjoyed them. I know they are kinda kiddy books, but it's been fun to read some easy going and interesting books.
My mom and I are going to be making my sister's wedding cake for her (the big day is Friday!). We decided to practice today, and this is what we created. I'm counting it for the AC project this week. I've never done a fondant cake before, and it was fun to work with it. It is definitely something I enjoyed. I'm totally making a fondant cake for the next birthday...I guess that means Halli's. Ohhhh I have to start thinking of some fun designs to do for it! I hope it tastes good. I guess we'll find out tonight after FHE.

Yes, they had dirt in every crevice

The kids and I have been having such a great time outside for the past week. The weather has been warmer-today was 84! We've been working on getting our flower bed in, and the kids have enjoyed playing in the dirt. We are grateful to our neighbor for providing the free dirt so we don't have to spend $300 to get some! I'm excited to have some life out in front of our house!
I forgot to post on the book I read this month. It was The Last Song by Nicholas Sparks. I loved it! I am trying to not only read a book a month, but also a try reading different kids of books. I really want to read some of Mr. Sparks' other books, but I'll have to do those along with other books I read each month. I would definitely recommend the book. I was crying alone in my room when I finished the book. Ryan would have been laughing at me if he'd been there so I'm glad he was at work!

I will soon be doing a post on all my AC projects. Maybe tomorrow. I spent all day today cleaning. This is the first time I have sat down to be on the computer today. I want to finish one of my projects tonight, but I just had to made a quick post.

My brother-in-law, Aubry's husband is flying in to Wichita tonight. He is interviewing for an intership tomorrow, and we are really hoping he gets the job! We want Michael and Aubry here for the summer SOOOOOOOO bad!!! We're excited to have Michael come spend the night here for one night before his big interview. We wish him luck!

Playing Catch-up

Ok we are finally feeling better, and our house is being taken care of so I'm ready to get back into blogging again. I've given the blog a much needed facelift, and will keep up with posting now. First off, the house has been "drying out" for 2 weeks now. It usually only takes 3-5 days, but our hardwood floor isn't drying so the big fans have been going forever it seems like. They are now off, and will be picked up in an hour.
Good news about this whole leaking sink issue...we now get a new hardwood floor! Because it isn't drying properly we have to get a new one instead of just refinishing the current stuff. So I'm excited to have that done! It is going to make me want to change the whole kitchen though. I guess I'll have to hold off on that until we get the funds to do so. We want to do some major changes like paint the cabinets, change the backsplash and countertops, and paint the walls of course. I'm guessing maybe that will come this summer, or maybe next summer haha. Sometime, but not now...another project for another day. I'll also be getting a new ceiling in my craft room, and possibly a new wall. I believe I'll find out when the guy shows up in an hour.
Even though my craft room has a big hole in the ceiling I have been busy at work down there. I have been doing my projects and am happy to finally post some of my work. I'm going to be starting over with the numbering of my projects because my goal is to do 52 this year (avg. of one a week). So here are projects 1-4, and I'll have another one done Saturday.

First, my sisters and I made tutus for all my nieces (and Halli) while we were all together at Christmas. Here's a photo with all of them modeling them! AC#1
(this one is my favorite...loved the green, pink, and brown)

Here's a scrapbook page I did two weeks ago. (Yes, I'm two years behind on my scrapbooking!) AC#2

I've been wanting to make a little box for our treats and snacks we have to eat, so I used a tissue box and turned it into this. AC#3

I finally got to use my sewing machine I got for Christmas and made three bibs this week. Halli never have enough bibs so I will be making more and trying different things in the future. Not too bad for my first sewing experience without my mother! AC#4
I'm so excited to be going with my projects again! Just FYI, I am on top of all 6 goals I have made for myself in the new year. I've completed everything for January so far, and am beginning my Feb stuff. I'm looking for a good book to read for next month ANY SUGGESTIONS???
