Yes, they had dirt in every crevice

The kids and I have been having such a great time outside for the past week. The weather has been warmer-today was 84! We've been working on getting our flower bed in, and the kids have enjoyed playing in the dirt. We are grateful to our neighbor for providing the free dirt so we don't have to spend $300 to get some! I'm excited to have some life out in front of our house!
I forgot to post on the book I read this month. It was The Last Song by Nicholas Sparks. I loved it! I am trying to not only read a book a month, but also a try reading different kids of books. I really want to read some of Mr. Sparks' other books, but I'll have to do those along with other books I read each month. I would definitely recommend the book. I was crying alone in my room when I finished the book. Ryan would have been laughing at me if he'd been there so I'm glad he was at work!

I will soon be doing a post on all my AC projects. Maybe tomorrow. I spent all day today cleaning. This is the first time I have sat down to be on the computer today. I want to finish one of my projects tonight, but I just had to made a quick post.

My brother-in-law, Aubry's husband is flying in to Wichita tonight. He is interviewing for an intership tomorrow, and we are really hoping he gets the job! We want Michael and Aubry here for the summer SOOOOOOOO bad!!! We're excited to have Michael come spend the night here for one night before his big interview. We wish him luck!

These are a few of my favorite things

I was sitting in my rock garden today digging out rocks and started thinking about when I was a child. I used to collect rocks, and a lot of other things. I thought it would be interesting to find out what other people collected when they were children, or things you collect now. Here is what I remember gathering and keeping as a child.
  • Rocks (I thought it was especially cool if I found one of those white "sparkly" rocks...the same kid I've been digging out of the flower bed.)
  • Treasure Trolls
  • Precious moments figurines
  • Stickers
  • Pencils
  • Key Chains
  • Postcards
  • letters (as in I kept EVERY letter anyone wrote me)
  • Stuffed Animals
I think that's about it. I sure was a pack rat!!! So tell me, what did you collect?

R-Kansas Race

Ok so people here in Kansas (or maybe it is just a Wichita thing) pronounce the state Arkansas like R-Kansas. Weird huh? Last weekend I took a trip down with two good friends to run my second half marathon. This race was tougher than the last one! The course was a lot hillier (is that a word?) than what I had been training on. I figured it would be pretty flat like Kansas, but it wasn't. The last mile was this hill that was monstrous. I didn't like it, but I did it...and I even ran it. I didn't give up, so I was pretty happy about that. I did take 15 minutes off my previous time so I was really pleased with how I did. I know I'm not a fast runner, but I figure if I keep improving maybe I will be fast someday. Here are some fun photos from the weekend....just want to say thanks again to Kristen and Mary Ann for the great time! Can't wait to do it again.

Mary Ann And I before the 13 mile run...it was cold

Kristen and I before the race

running

finishing, and really exhausted

Notice Kristen is WAY faster than I am. I think she finished 20 minutes before I did!

ok, ok, ok

I know I haven't been posting much at all lately-even though I am supposed to be posting at least once a week to report on my projects. I've been way stressed about this big service project I am in charge of for church. I am the stake YW secretary, and I was put in charge of a stake youth activity. It was supposed to be yesterday, but it snowed an inch Friday night so the activity got canceled...I guess there was ice under the snow. (still not to scary for me...after all we lived in Idaho where snow/ice covers the roads for 7 months out of the year) I was looking forward to being done with it, but now it is going to be next Saturday so...I will be stress free (haha) in a week.
I have a lot to blog about, but tonight I just wanted to report that we are still alive. I will post tomorrow about how my race went last weekend. I need to get photos from my friends so I can have so proof of my accomplishment! So for now, just know we are all alive and well.

Little Man Ties

Well Ryan brought his computer home from work with him this weekend, so good news-I can post pictures. I'll be posting all my recent projects and some recent photos of things we've been doing.
My project this week was making some little man ties for Carson. It took me a while to make them, but I think they turned out pretty good. I wanted to get a photo of Carson wearing them, but he is already in bed tonight. This is my project #10. Following that photo is the photos of other projects from recent weeks.

I just realized that half of them are unfinished. I have some work to finish this week. I have tried to put the flower on my headwrap that I made, but I can't figure it out. I have to keep trying and get the flower on there. It looks good without it, but it will look better with it. Then I don't have the face on the bear I made. I don't have the materials for it yet, but I will be getting them next week so I'll have to wait until then to finish it. Sorry for the rambling...I'm just thinking aloud.

These next two photos are just from a night we had some popcicles last week. The kids enjoyed them, and Halli was being so silly. And the last photo was from a couple weeks ago she took a nap on the chair in her instead of in her bed. I went in there to check on her and had to take a photo cause it was silly. I haven't found her like that since...so I don't think she slept very well.

As a final note, I'm running another half marathon next weekend. It's been a year since my last one. I was going to do a full marathon the end of february, but my knee wouldn't let me do a full one so I'm now doing a half next Saturday down in Bentonville Arkansas...yes, home of Walmart. I'll let you know how it goes!

Broken and Bruised

The computer that is...
I haven't posted in a while. I've been doing my projects and working on my goals for the year, but I haven't been posting about them because we still can't upload photos. We tried wiping our hard drive and cleaning out our computer (what we did last time to fix it), but it didn't work. So we tried again...still nothing. So I'm just having a hard time wanting to post because we can't upload photos so it is no fun to talk about the projects I'm doing when you can't actually see what I'm talking about. I think what we are going to have to do is get out laptop fixed then we can just upload photos on that computer, and this one we will use for everything else. We don't have the money to get a new computer...plus it seems like such a waste. This computer works great, except when we want to put photos online. Maybe we should take this one to get fixed....anyway. So that is the reason for the lack of posts.
I will go ahead and post about my projects though cause I haven't been working. Two weeks ago I made a little white bear with a red heart sewn on the tummy. I am in my stake young women's presidency, and am in charge of planning a big service project that will happen in three weeks. We are going to be making these bears and putting together hygiene kits for the children and people in Haiti. I thought I should make a bear to see what they would look like. It turned out really cute, and I'm excited to have our youth make them then send them on to those who have nothing. It will be a great activity! So...that was my AC project #8.
Last week the floors in our kitchen finally got done (HALLELUJAH!) They look amazing. I love the color, and just want to get to work on painting the living room and kitchen now so I like it. As I've mentioned before, my entire house is painted yellow and I hate it! It is a gross yellow, and all the wood in the house is a yellow oak color so I just feel overloaded by yellow. I'm excited to paint it this summer! Anyway...we were kicked out of our house for 4 days, and I didn't think I would be able to do a project last week, but then I decided to give crocheting a go. I taught myself how to crochet, and I made a headwrap. I think it turned out so cute, and can't wait to wear it out. ( i haven't gone anywhere this week yet...maybe tomorrow I'll wear it to Carson's preschool). It looks like this, and this is actually where I got the pattern for it. Mine turned out pretty good I thought-especially for the first creation crocheting! So that is AC#9. Wow can you believe we are already 9 weeks into 2010!
