Black toe, Nails to go

So last week Carson decided to play with the 10 pound weight I had just received for my birthday, and accidentally dropped it...on his toe/foot. His toe was bleeding, and he was in some pain. To help him "feel" better Ryan wrapped it all up in an ace bandage. It was kinda funny to see. He is doing fine now, but the toe is purple/blue/black and I'm sure the nail will fall off at some point. Speaking of nails falling off...Half of Carson's fingernails are looking like they are going to fall off...and for no apparent reason that I can think of. He hasn't smashed them anywhere or injured his hands in anyway, but you can definitely see some new nails growing, and the old nail separating and showing signs that it will soon disconnect. Anyone know why this might be happening? Is there a vitamin or something that he could be missing? Anyone have experience with this?

Since I do not have the ability to upload photos right now I'll just have to tell you what I did for my project this week. I made Carson a little tote bag for his Book of Mormon. He had a bag he used to take to church, but it got ripped up. I took the little guy to JoAnn's with my this week and let him pick out his own fabric. I tried to convince him to get some cool patterned stuff, but he chose plain blue and plain green cotton flannel stuff. I'm not quite sure what material it really is...it was a remnant piece that just said cotton. Anyway, it is a simple bag, but I enjoyed making it up as I went along. I definitely made it harder than it should have been, but I'll know better for the next time I make a bag! This is my AC#6.
(Here is what happens when I upload photos...on ANY site. They either won't load period, or come out discolored and off. Does anyone know why???)

Dinner Time

I just had the best time with Halli. She and I are home alone right now. The house it neat and clean, the last load of laundry is in the dryer, and it is quiet. So I thought we would make dinner together. It was so much fun! She was so adorable. We made pizza, and she was so excited to help through the whole thing-pouring, stirring, tasting, and adding food color to the dough. When we make pancakes we like to color them with some food color-makes it really exciting! Well I guess she thought we were making pancakes cause we started mixing it and she said "blue" and reached up for the food coloring...so I thought sure, why not. This will be the first time I've had a blue pizza, but I'm sure Carson will be so excited for it!
After we finished making the pizza Halli wanted to watch Blues Clues so I said ok and asked her if she wanted to bring her water to which she replied "sure"...she is so cute. I love her soft little voice.
It is nice having some mother-daughter time alone. We'll have to do it more often!

OK apparently we are having issues with loading our photos again...so until we wipe our hard drive again we are going to be photo-less. I don't know how that is going to work with my projects going on. I guess you will just have to imagine how they look.

B-day cards

I spent a few hours this morning with some friends, and really enjoyed my time just chatting and not worry about children. I am in a card group, and we get together once a month and make cards. One of us designs the cards and hosts the party at their house. This month was my month so it was my turn to get creative. Here are the cards we made today. I think everyone had a good time. I'm just glad to have some birthday cards for the upcoming celebrations of friends and family! I'm hoping we do another birthday card next month! AC #5

As a side note...Halli has been into book so much lately. This past week I have rarely seen her not carrying one around. In fact when I put her to bed tonight she insisted sleeping with one. I love that she loves books! Here is a photo of her after waking up from nap yesterday-books in hand!

Playing Catch-up

Ok we are finally feeling better, and our house is being taken care of so I'm ready to get back into blogging again. I've given the blog a much needed facelift, and will keep up with posting now. First off, the house has been "drying out" for 2 weeks now. It usually only takes 3-5 days, but our hardwood floor isn't drying so the big fans have been going forever it seems like. They are now off, and will be picked up in an hour.
Good news about this whole leaking sink issue...we now get a new hardwood floor! Because it isn't drying properly we have to get a new one instead of just refinishing the current stuff. So I'm excited to have that done! It is going to make me want to change the whole kitchen though. I guess I'll have to hold off on that until we get the funds to do so. We want to do some major changes like paint the cabinets, change the backsplash and countertops, and paint the walls of course. I'm guessing maybe that will come this summer, or maybe next summer haha. Sometime, but not now...another project for another day. I'll also be getting a new ceiling in my craft room, and possibly a new wall. I believe I'll find out when the guy shows up in an hour.
Even though my craft room has a big hole in the ceiling I have been busy at work down there. I have been doing my projects and am happy to finally post some of my work. I'm going to be starting over with the numbering of my projects because my goal is to do 52 this year (avg. of one a week). So here are projects 1-4, and I'll have another one done Saturday.

First, my sisters and I made tutus for all my nieces (and Halli) while we were all together at Christmas. Here's a photo with all of them modeling them! AC#1
(this one is my favorite...loved the green, pink, and brown)

Here's a scrapbook page I did two weeks ago. (Yes, I'm two years behind on my scrapbooking!) AC#2

I've been wanting to make a little box for our treats and snacks we have to eat, so I used a tissue box and turned it into this. AC#3

I finally got to use my sewing machine I got for Christmas and made three bibs this week. Halli never have enough bibs so I will be making more and trying different things in the future. Not too bad for my first sewing experience without my mother! AC#4
I'm so excited to be going with my projects again! Just FYI, I am on top of all 6 goals I have made for myself in the new year. I've completed everything for January so far, and am beginning my Feb stuff. I'm looking for a good book to read for next month ANY SUGGESTIONS???

2010 Goals

I did get sick after all. I woke up yesterday morning not feeling well, and stayed feeling that way all day. I am feeling better today, but it still stinks that I got sick. And while my sister and her family are visiting! I didn't get my AC project done this week with the leaking mess we have been dealing with, and all of us getting sick. So...I thought I would write down my goals on here so I can clarify my creativity challenge. So anyway, here are my goals for the year.
  • Read one book every month (I already read The Christmas Sweater by Glenn Beck...very good book-definately recommend it!)
  • Write in my journal at least once a month...it will beat doing it only 3 times last year!
  • Do 52 house/craft projects this year. This will be my AC Challenges, but I'm changing it a little bit. Sometimes they aren't things that are super creative, but things that I just want to try to do...and some weeks things will come up so I'll do 2 projects some weeks and none other weeks (like this one!).
I have a few more personal goals, but these are the ones I am sharing with the world. I'll be blogging about the books I read and the projects I do, and this is basically an online journal (not that I am counting this for my journal entries!) so I was willing to share these goals I have set for myself.

I hope you have all set some goals to help improve and stretch yourself this year. It is looking like it will be a busy year for me!

Not Happy

So this morning I was going to take a photo of my project for the week...which by the way isn't anything big. I was only home half the week, and was busy running around catching up on everything so I didn't have much time. I still haven't taken a photo of it. I went downstairs into my newly repainted/updated craft room to find a wet ceiling. I AM NOT HAPPY.
The pluming under our kitchen sink had been leaking for a day (I noticed a wet rug all day, but just thought Halli must have spilled something...never stopped to check it out-first mistake). So I went to church today, and left Ryan at home with a sick Halli to try to stop the leak. He wasn't able to stop it so we called a plumber. He came, and after he got here I thought oh I should have called our home warranty company. Yeah I called them...it would have been covered for only $60, but now I just paid him $235-second mistake. He also told us we need to have the ceiling and wall replaced downstairs in my craft room. So now we get to pay our insurance deductible (not cheap) to get that done, and possibly part of our kitchen floor replaced. Needless to say I'm not going to be blogging about my AC projects or great family vacation we just returned home from. That will have to come another day. We'll let you know what happens with the restoration.

Still here

We are alive. I haven't forgotten we have a blog. It's just been a while and I have so much to catch up on so I've just been avoiding it. It's late, but I'm still awake. The rest of my family is slumbering and dreaming of sweet things I'm sure. So I thought I would sit down for a moment and notify the world that we are still alive, and have just been enjoying ourselves too much. This is why I haven't been in the blogging world. We went to Utah and spent the holidays with all of my family...but more of that information will come in a post tomorrow. I will update on my AC projects, the holidays, our fun activities, and upcoming events. Hope you all had a wonderful december. Oh, and if you were looking out for our Christmas card (cause I asked for addresses, you know)...I didn't send them. Yours didn't get lost in the mail, and no I didn't forget just you. I just didn't send them. I had the cards made, ordered the photos, but I just didn't know what to write for a Christmas letter. So I just didn't do it, and I thought it would be dumb to send a cute handmade card, a photo, and a signature. So I'm saving the cards for next year, and I am already working on the Christmas letter. I've got 11 months to do it so I promise I'll have it done and out to you NEXT December!!!
