One of those days

Today was a rough day at home with the kids. They were both really whiney...and it just gets to me after a full day of it. Ryan came home from work, we ate dinner, and cleaned up. Then Ryan, being the amazing husband he is, took the kids outside and I made cookies. They turned out awesome...thanks for the recipe dad Harris! I sat down and looked through the photos I recently added into iphoto, and couldn't help but love my children. It is hard to be mad with cute faces like these! So much for the bad day....it's a nice, warm, blue sky, clear day I guess I'll go out and enjoy it too!

She's 1!!!

Our little June Bug turned 1 on the 10th. We had a nice relaxing day at home, and a little party with just us Wednesday night. She was really happy all day long-which is kinda a big thing cause she has been SO cranky lately. She's had teeth coming in for a while, and she doesn't deal well with that. She was happy, took great naps, and played with Carson nicely. We got to have pizza for dinner then open presents, and eat cupcakes. She sure enjoyed all of that-it was fun to see her really dig into her cake! Here are some photos from the day

At 12 months Halli is
  • Walking everywhere. She doesn't crawl hardly at all anymore! She started walking at 10 months so she's had a few months to perfect it.
  • Going up and down stairs on her own
  • Saying a few words like: mama, dada, carson, bottle, bear, baby, ball, grandma, grandpa, and aubry
  • She understands so many things, and amazes me each day at what new things she has learned to recognize.
  • Giving hugs and kisses as she desires. She LOVES giving Carson hugs.
  • Enjoying drawing-she likes to see the marks she can make with a pencil/crayon
  • Bugging Carson like crazy! She love, love, loves to pick on him. He's a pretty good sport...most of the time.
  • She has 5 teeth-3 on top, 2 on bottom
  • Sleeping through the night!!! She goes to sleep around 7:30pm, and wakes around 7am.
  • Eating table foods, and refusing any kind of baby food.
  • Adorable!

Here comes June

Not much has been happening this week with us. We spent a few days scrubbing our apartment and finally turned the keys over on Thursday so we are officially out of there! We went to clean it and realized how small it really was. We thought it was huge compared to any other apartment we had lived in, but compared to our house it is just tiny! It is nice to have a bigger place-our own place. Ryan has been doing a project a day out in the yard so it is looking better and better! Some day (probably next year) we'll have enough money to re-landscape the front yard and turn the hideousness it now is into something B-E-Autiful! No real progress with the rest of the house. Except I bought some candles today to make it smell better. I think the smoke smell is almost out!
Here are a couple photos from the week.
Ready for the day
Another hair style I tried with Halli...I know it's a mohawk, but I thought it was cute

Some inside photos

I can never get photos to load on here for some reason...which is why I didn't include any of Halli two posts down. Ryan somehow got them to load in the last post so I am going to try again. I'll try to do a couple posts over the next week with some photos of the inside of our house. There is a ton of work we want to do with it. It is a good house with LOTS of potential, but here is what it looks like for now. We'll start with the main floor where the living room, dining room, and kitchen are...please excuse the mess!

Dining Room-what you see when entering the front door...we're working on getting a table!
Living Room to the left when you walk in the front door
Kitchen (before I cleaned up) right next to dining area
Another shot...this time cleaner
And there you have the first round of photos of the inside of our lovely abode. Don't you just love the yellow walls. The entire house is painted the same color inside...it's so boring, and not my favorite color. We'll change it a room at a time!

It's Official

Halli is walking!  I can't even believe how big she is, and how fast she has learned to walk around.  She took her first steps on April 4th, and has been working so hard over the past month to perfect the skill.  While we were in Utah she walked back and forth from couch to couch so many times.  Since we've come back home though she has been walking circles around the couch.  It is so funny to watch her.  She likes to hold something while she is walking around-whatever she can find to pick up.  She will just walk around and around the couch though-I think just because she can.  She actually stood up on her own without using anything on the 29th of April so I figure she has been officially a walker for a couple weeks, but I haven't had time to post about it.  Just like her brother, she's a walker at 10 months! (As of Sunday though she is 11 months old...almost 1!!!!)
Other Halli news-she has 5 teeth as of this morning.  She got her 4th on Sunday, and her little canine came through during the night...which is probably why she woke up like 10 times.  She loves all the stairs in our house.  She is really good at going up, but not so good coming down yet.  She is wearing 18 month clothes now, but has been in them for a couple months because she is just so tall.  She had a major growth spurt from 7-9 months.  I think she'll stay in these clothes for a while though...at least I'm hoping.  It sure is expensive to maintain a wardrobe for her!  Lastly, I put her hair in little piggy tails for the first time yesterday.  They only stayed in a couple hours, but her hair is getting long enough to do things with so I'm really excited about that.  A couple more months and I should be able to do whatever with it!  Little short piggies are about all we can do for now though.
